The Ascona Polo Cup welcomes a new partner: UNICO gebäudetechnik ag from Basel. The engineering firm for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing has been supporting demanding construction projects in the region for many years – including the Basel Kaserne and the former main post office. What connects a building services specialist with a polo tournament? The same attitude: precision, teamwork, and an eye for the big picture.
Some partnerships are self-explanatory. Others invite you to take a closer look – and that is exactly the case with our new partner. We are very pleased to welcome UNICO gebäudetechnik ag as a co-partner of the Ascona Polo Cup. And yes, the question is obvious: What does a building services engineering firm have to do with a polo tournament on Lake Maggiore?
Who is UNICO gebäudetechnik ag?
UNICO gebäudetechnik ag, based in Basel, combines planning, consulting, and holistic solutions in building services: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing, all from a single source. From the initial consultation and planning to construction supervision and handover, the team fully supports every mandate – from simple systems for residential construction to complex systems for commerce, industry, and pharma.
Realized projects include renowned Basel buildings such as the Basel Kaserne, a historic ensemble in the heart of Kleinbasel, as well as the former main post office. For the Kaserne, UNICO was responsible for the entire plumbing trade: from conception and execution planning to construction management and final acceptance. Projects that require a feel for history as much as technical precision.
The bridge to polo: three commonalities
Precision. Anyone planning a building with complex building services knows there is no tolerance for approximation: every pipe, every circuit, every concept for drinking water hygiene must be exact. It is no different in polo. A chukka lasts seven and a half minutes of precision work at full gallop – one mistake in timing, and the chance is gone. Two completely different worlds, the same discipline.
Teamwork. A construction project only succeeds when architects, engineers, craftsmen, and clients function as a well-coordinated team – that is precisely the core competence of UNICO as a coordinator for integral solutions. In polo, it is the connection between rider and horse, between the four players of a team, that decides between victory and defeat. Both worlds thrive on the fact that no one shines alone.
Vision. “Building services with vision” – that is how UNICO describes itself. Consistent cost, schedule, and quality monitoring requires a view across the entire project lifecycle, not just the next step. And on the polo field, too, success is often decided not by the fastest start, but by who reads the game as a whole, who thinks ahead, and who knows the next move before the ball even rolls.
Welcome to Lake Maggiore
We are pleased that UNICO gebäudetechnik ag shares this attitude with us and supports the Ascona Polo Cup as a co-partner. Whether on the construction site in Basel or on the sand of Ascona: it is about the same conviction – that true quality arises from precision, team spirit, and vision.
A warm welcome, dear team at UNICO! We look forward to a partnership that stands for exactly that.
