Polo Club Asconas historie
Polo Club Ascona blev grundlagt i december 2009 af Margit Sauer, Marco Styger og Uwe Zimmermann. Siden sin grundlæggelse har klubben konsekvent arbejdet på at etablere polosporten i Schweiz' sydligste kanton, Ticino. Allerede i juli 2010 fandt den første poloturnering sted, hvilket lagde grundstenen til Ascona Polo Cup. Klubben er den eneste poloklub i det sydlige Schweiz og dermed en pioner i regionen. Medlemstallet vokser støt, og klubben byder velkommen til såvel aktive spillere som sociale medlemmer, der støtter målet om at gøre polo til en fast institution i Ticino.
Ascona, known for its glamour and style, offers with its picturesque location on Lago Maggiore the perfect backdrop for the sport of polo. The club uses the grounds of Ascona's former airfield for its tournaments, which gives the matches a unique atmosphere. 2010
Den første turnering i Ascona Polo Cup blev afholdt i juli 2010, kort efter klubbens stiftelse.
2019
Polo Cup fejrede sit 10-års jubilæum med et særligt program, herunder en parade i Ascona, en jubilæumsgallamiddage og en polofinale med velgørenhedsarrangementer.
2021
Den 11. udgave af Ascona Polo Cup blev fejret som et af sommerens højdepunkter, med kulinariske oplevelser af en stjernekok fra Ticino.
2023
Ascona Polo Cup 2023 (12. udgave) fandt sted fra den 1. til den 3. september og bød på spændende kampe samt et førsteklasses program.
2024
Den 14. udgave (6.-8. september) begejstrede med dramatiske kampe, en straffesparkskonkurrence og en sejr til holdet Wetag Christies. Lucid Motors optrådte som ny sponsor, hvilket understregede forbindelsen mellem luksus, bæredygtighed og innovation.
2025
Den næste udgave er planlagt til den 5.-7. september 2025, igen med seks hold og over 80 heste, som vil sørge for et uforglemmelig spektakel. I år fejer Ascona Polo Cup sit 15. jubilæum
